Mindfulness

  • Mindfulness is the essential human ability to be fully present, aware of our surroundings, and what we're doing, without being overly reactive or overwhelmed by our internal and external experiences.
  • Mindfulness is a natural ability that we all possess; it becomes more accessible when we learn, experience, and practice it daily.
  • Mindfulness increases awareness of what you're directly experiencing through your senses or your mental state, including your thoughts and emotions.
  • Mindfulness strengthens neural connections by training our brains through mindfulness and related practices, allowing us to build new neural pathways and networks, thus enhancing concentration, flexibility, and awareness.
  • Similar to lifting weights, repeated mental activities like meditation can strengthen these neural pathways. Your adaptable brain responds to external stimuli like meditation, a phenomenon known as neuroplasticity. Mindfulness can be a powerful tool for rewiring your brain.
